ethical Journey
Join us on our ethical journey as we continue to progress and provide full transparency in all that we do. We strive to align every action with our ethical values in order to move towards a sustainable future. We are constantly working with our suppliers and exploring new fabrics, packaging materials, and sustainable practices in order to improve our ethical journey.
When we have the opportunity, we will always choose our planet and will continue to update you on our sustainable practices as we move forward.
WHAT WE ARE DOING / These are some of the sustainable practices we implement in order to reduce our impact on the environment.

1 / SHIPPING SATCHELS
All our domestic orders are sent in a comPOST pac. These post bags are made from 100% biodegradable and compostable materials: corn starch, PLA (synthesized from corn), and PBAT (Polybutyrate Adipate Terephthalate). Each bag can be composted at home by simply removing the address and express label and placing it in your home food scrap bin, green waste bin, or worm farm.

2 / GARMENT BAG
All Rowie garments are packed in compostable Polybag’s or comPOLY bags. These compostable bags are made from bio-cassava and can be composted at home with your food scraps and garden waste.
3 / PAPER
In 2018, we began using EcoStar+ paper. All our Postcards, Thank You Cards, and Return Cards are printed on EcoStar – 100% recycled and chlorine-free, recyclable stock made from 100% post-consumer waste .

Boxes
We use Earthpak by Craftpak 100% recycled cardboard boxes. The boxes are made locally in Australia and foil printed with soy-based inks. Foil printing is a sustainable, non-toxic printing option that does not contain any heavy metals,
carcinogens, or harmful substances. Inks, lacquers, and laminates are known to significantly impact the environment while decorate foil is recyclable and de-inkable, leaving minimal waste residue.
Tissue
We use tissue paper from No Issue - a premium packaging solution that doesn’t harm the environment. No Issue is 100% recyclable, acid-free tissue paper printed with soy-based ink.
Stickers
We use stickers from No Issue. Each sticker is 100% recyclable and printed with soy-based ink on acid-free paper.
4 / GIFT WRAP
We have carefully researched materials that retain a beautiful look and feel while being aligned with our ethics. We have selected the following materials that are kind to the environment.

5 / FIBRES
We are excited to introduce the use of recycled fibres in our Holiday ‘19/’20 sustainable swim collection. This collection marks a turning point in our journey with sustainable fibres and marks a turning point in our ethical journey. Our swim is made from recycled-techno fabric, ECONYL® regenerated Nylon.
6 / SUSTAINABLE PRACTISES IN THE WAREHOUSE, SHOPS & HEAD OFFICE
At ROWIE, we aim to “walk the talk” in regards to sustainability in our warehouse, shops, and head office. We are always looking for new ways to reduce our waste and re-use, reduce, and recycle. We implement the following sustainable practices and will continue to improve as we learn more:
1.
Bring lunch to work with produce from our gardens. We share produce when we have excess.
2.
If we buy lunch, we choose to support our local businesses like Santos Organics (a 100% not-for-profit organic and non-GMO wholefoods store) and Barrio (sources local and organic produce).
3.
Use reusable Keep Cups for coffee and tea indulgences at our local coffee shop which is within walking distance from the office
4.
Carpool to work together

This can be from how it is washed to how long you keep your garment in your wardrobe for. By keeping clothes in circulation for 3 months longer than normal can help reduce the impact on carbon, water, and waste by 10%*! You can affect positive change for the planet by just by wearing your clothes a little bit longer. Here are our top tips for smarter washing to keep your emissions down, save energy, and lengthen the life of your garments so you have more time to spend with your ROWIE piece.
