Founder-led by a mother and daughter duo, ROWIE is shaped by a shared instinct for creativity and independence. Founder & Creative Director, Rowie Moore was raised in the aftermath of the Aquarius Festival within a Northern Rivers alternative living community defined by freedom, artistry, and alternative thinking. A child of artists, she grew up outside convention — where making and reworking were part of everyday life. By fourteen, she had left school with her mother’s support, committing to a self-directed path grounded in creating.
Her early years were shaped by a vibrant creative community — designers, dancers, musicians — where clothing blurred into costume and self-expression became currency. Supporting herself through her craft, Rowie worked primarily with deadstock fabrics, developing an intuitive, independent practice. Motherhood came young, and after returning to the community to raise her daughter Maya, she continued from a small home studio — selling at markets, building a loyal following, and releasing her first official ROWIE collection in 2014.
Maya, raised within this environment, later returned to the brand after gaining experience in Sydney’s fashion industry. Now Head of Brand, she works in close partnership with Rowie, bringing a considered, contemporary perspective. Together, they lead ROWIE with a shared sensibility — instinctive, self-taught, and independent.
